Learning more about kittens meowing

A few kittens meowing can really drive you up the wall or at least make you wish you would have another home where you can go to when you want to have some peace and quiet. If you have one or more kittens and they keeps meowing continuously and don’t seem to give you any signs of stopping, then you have a problem. It’s not recommended you take any steps that will cure the meowing, but first find out what causes them to meow. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top 5 reasons cat meow too much:

The cat may be hurt or have a painful disease she is trying to tell you about.

In most cases when a cat will start meowing excessively, it signals that something has recently happened to her and you should take her up for a physical examination at the local vet. You can also do so if you are skilled enough. Check to see if the cat has any discharges from her nose, ears or eyes, listlessness and reluctance to walk at all. Additionally, you should also check her tendency of favouring one or more paws when walking, tender spots and scratches.

If any of these will affect your cat, then it’s time you will bring her to a vet if you are the one that made the initial check. If you solve the problem or problems the cat is dealing with, this will also positively affect her meowing behaviour.

2. Cats may also meow if they want you to do something for them.

Many owners are already familiar with this type of meow. Generally cats will meow insistently and loud and they may need their master to give them some water or food.

3. Cats may also alert their owners if something’s missing.

Even though most cats care about their comfort only and the food they have in their plate, some of them can act like real “bodyguards” for their owners. Thus, when an uninvited guest like a raccoon, dog or just another cat will enter the premises, the cat will start meowing.

Some cats may even take up a scarier attitude and start growling. They will not stop until the intruder will leave, so you might as well take the matter into your own hands. Luring out the intruder, you will find the cat will stop meowing and you’ll have peace once again.

Some cat breeds just meow more than others.

It’s very well known that Siamese cats meow more often than other breeds, yet even if this is the case, it doesn’t mean you should be more reluctant at checking them for trouble. If you cannot stand excessive and loud meowing and you just want a cat as a quiet companion, then you will have to look for a less vocal breed.

5. Meowing to grab attention.

Just like humans, cats seek attention and they will get it if they keep meowing. The fact is that most cats will want you to pet and cuddle them on their own schedule and that can be a problem if you are busy. If this happens, short periods of banishment from your presence should make things alright.

With these 5 tips in mind, you will always know how to deal with a meowing cat and find out whether she has a problem or just needs some attention.
